About Dan

Dan Betlejewski was born in Aug 1986 at the old Seaside Hospital on the beach with a major heart defect.  This lead him to overcome many obstacles; from reconstructive open-heart surgery at 17 days old, to physical limitations that left him feeling different and incomplete. Then in June 2003 Dan was introduced to fire-dancing (also known as poi-dancing) by a family friend and quickly became a member of the Pyro-Gyro Fire-Dance Troop performing at county fairs and celebrations, the Iron Horse Rodeo, birthday and bachelorette parties, and numerous bonfire and beach parties.

In Aug 2004, a pacemaker implant not only lengthened his lifespan but has helped to boost his energy level. He has now become a fairly competent juggler, using some of his post-pacemaker recuperation time to teach himself.  Dan loves fire-dancing and juggling and now wishes to pass these arts on to others.
